Presented by Elena Aguilar, The Art of Transformational Coaching workshop is the starting point to grow your skills as a Transformational Coach. Based on Arise: The Art of Transformational Coaching (2024), this in-person learning experience takes you from knowledge building to effective implementation.

If you want to see sustained changes in practice, your coaching must go below the surface of addressing behaviors (delivering instruction, analyzing data, etc.). Transformation requires taking a holistic approach and skillfully exploring someone’s beliefs and ways of being. This approach is what defines Transformational Coaching. Transformational Coaches also operate from two truths: that every conversation is an equity conversation, and if people are present, so are their emotions. We can learn how to have conversations that change practice by engaging and working with our emotions.

What You'll Learn

1. What makes Transformational Coaching uniquely powerful as a way to build emotional resilience in educators and interrupt inequitable practices

2. How to coach behaviors, beliefs, and ways of being, and when to coach in each of these domains

3. How to enact the foundational abilities of Transformational Coaching, including how to build trust, cultivate a client's agency, and navigate power dynamics

4. How to use multiple strategies and tools for each component of a Transformational Coaching conversation

5. How to lean into your strengths as a coach and leader and how to address areas for growth

How You'll Spend Your Time


Self-Paced Prework - 4 hours minimum

Your experience begins with a self-guided exploration of the foundations of Transformational Coaching. In this stage, you'll engage in reading, podcast listening, and reflection. This combination of knowledge building and reflection will help you clarify your vision for yourself as a Transformational Coach and prepare for the live learning experience. 


Live Learning - 2 days, 14 hours total

  • You'll come together with Elena Aguilar and a community of coaches to observe masterful coaching, engage in coaching role plays, and gain insight into how to sharpen your practice.

  • You'll learn how to implement many of the ideas presented in Arise and practice doing so. You'll also be offered tips and strategies that are not shared in Arise or in other content that Elena has created. 

  • This is a two-day experience, each day consisting of two learning blocks with a 90-minute lunch break. This workshop is highly interactive, allowing you to build skills and synthesize learning quickly. 


Bonus - 3 months of access to the Learning Library and Transformational Coaching PLC (August-October 2024)

  • You’ll be able to explore 12 skill sessions, each ~30 minutes long, organized by a timely theme based on the school year's cadence. Four sessions will be released at the beginning of each month. 

  • You’ll be invited to a monthly PLC session to engage in practice and receive targeted feedback in a supportive community. 

  • You’ll gain access to our private online community, where you can discuss skill session topics, share resources, and provide and receive feedback and advice related to your coaching practice. 



What Else You Need to Know

Requirements 

All participants must have a copy of Arise: The Art of Transformational Coaching. This book is not included in the registration fee. The book will be utilized in both the prework and during the workshop sessions. 

This workshop is ideal for those new to Transformational Coaching. However, if you've previously attended a virtual The Art of Coaching workshop, or an in-person one (prior to 2020) then this workshop will build on those skills that you previously acquired and lead you into deeper mastery of the strategies.

Participants will receive more details on what to bring. 

Lunch is not included. Participants will have a 90-minute lunch break each day. You may choose to bring your lunch, order through a food delivery service, or go to a nearby restaurant.

Cancelation Policy 

  • All registration fees are non-refundable.

  • Seven or more days in advance of the workshop start date, a one-time registration transfer can be made to an alternate participant or an alternative Bright Morning learning experience held in the same calendar year. 

  • A "no-show" without prior communication is non-transferable and non-refundable.

In the rare event of low enrollment, weather events, or venue issues, we reserve the right to cancel. We will provide an alternative learning pathway for all registrants or honor a refund for those who cannot join the alternate experience. Please note we are not responsible for travel cancelation costs. We recommend you hold off booking any non-refundable reservations until one month before the event date in case of cancelation.

Lunch is not provided by Bright Morning. 

Participants will have a 90-min. lunch break each day to purchase a meal at nearby venues or to enjoy their packed lunch.

Yes, there is a small amount of prework that will take about 4 hours (minimum) to complete. You'll need your copy of Arise: The Art of Transformational Coaching.


You’ll be able to view your prework in your Thinkific course closer to the start of the session. You'll also receive an email reminder.

Yes, for groups of 6 or more we offer $100 off the regular individual price.
